Hall of Fame
The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) is proud to announce that Greg Brown, Learfield, was inducted into the Association's Hall of Fame at the 2024 NACMA Convention on Monday, June 10 during the opening ceremonies and awards presentation of #NACMA24 at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV.
"Greg is a pioneer in collegiate athletics marketing", said Brad Wurthman, NACMA's Past President and Executive Associate AD for External Affairs at Virginia Tech. "His commitment to visionary leadership came at a time when collegiate athletics needed it most. Under his guidance, Learfield broke all available molds within our industry and pushed it forward in ways it had never experienced previously."
Brown, a leader in the multimedia rights and sponsorship field, began with Learfield in 1984 selling sponsorships for the Iowa State Cyclone Radio Network. Brown's career progressed over time which lead to his appointment as Learfield's president and CEO in 2009. In his 10+ years leading the helm at Learfield, the organization became a leading collegiate sports marketing firm through growth and acquisition. After serving 36 years in the collegiate sports industry, Brown retired in 2020 from Learfield IMG College.
About Brown's career, University of Oklahoma Athletic Director Joe Castiglione remarked, "I think about the numerous meetings that we've had together, the negotiations that have taken place, the ability to have moments where we're innovating, to be creative and execute plans and ideas that changed the landscape most notably the creation of a multimedia rights platform."
