CLEVELAND – The
Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) has selected the association's 24th Annual Scholar-Athletes of the Year.
Brody Grebe, defensive lineman from Montana State and
Tommy McCormick, safety from University of Idaho, were selected out of a field of eleven finalists and 52 FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team honorees to receive a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship.
"On behalf of the FCS ADA, I would like to congratulate this year's recipients for their outstanding dedication to both academic and athletic excellence. This is a remarkable achievement that deserves recognition," said FCS ADA President
Mark Benson, Director of Athletics at the University at Albany. "We are honored to support your ongoing pursuit of academic and professional success beyond the field. Congratulations to each of you, as well as to your coaches, teammates, administrators, faculty, and families, whose support has been instrumental in your journey."
A senior,
Grebe's future involves pursuing football at the professional level and subsequently returning to school for an advanced degree. His long-term goal is to contribute to the success and sustainability of his family ranch, using his education and experiences to navigate challenges and ensure its prosperity for future generations, while possibly owning and operating a business.

On the year, Grebe, earned the following accolades for his efforts on the field and in the classroom:
- National Honors
- Three-Time All-American
- 2024 Finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy
- Two-time 1st Team College Sports Communicators Academic All-American
- Buck Buchanan Award Finalist in 2023 and 2024
- Montana State and Big Sky Conference Honors
- 2024 Big Sky Defensive MVP
- Three-Time 1st Team All-Big Sky
- Montana State University Engineering Award for Excellence
- President's/Dean's List Honoree each semester
"It's just a great opportunity moving forward, being able to come back and pursue a master's or doctorate, whatever it may be, that can help expand my knowledge in engineering or in a different field", said Grebe. "To have that scholarship available provides a great opportunity. This university has meant a lot to me, and I put everything I could into this place. For this scholarship to come when I'm back here for my pro day, capping off my career here where I earned my (bachelor's) degree, it means a lot."
McCormick, a senior, is completing his bachelor's degree in medical sciences and plans on pursuing his graduate degree at University of Nevada, Reno or University of Nevada, Las Vegas medical schools in the summer of 2025 or 2026, depending on future NFL opportunities.

For his efforts on the field and in the classroom, McCormick has earned the following awards:
- University of Idaho and Big Sky Conference Honors
- 2024 1st-Team All Big Sky
- 2023 All-Big Sky Defense Honorable Mention
- 2023 The Bluebloods Preseason Big Sky All-Conference Second Team Defense
- 2022 Big Sky Fall All-Academic Team
- 2022 Big Sky Third-Team All-Conference
"Being one of the two student-athletes to be awarded the FCS ADA Postgraduate Scholarships is an incredible honor," said McCormick. "I am very grateful to be recognized for the excellence I have displayed in the classroom and on the field throughout my college career. This scholarship will be put toward a good cause as it is my plan to attend medical school in the upcoming years. Thank you very much for the award."
