Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA), in coordination with the 13 FCS conference offices, have selectedÂ
Beau Brungard, quarterback at Youngstown State University, and
Joshua Stoneking, defensive end at Furman University, as the 13th annual 2025 FCS ADA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
QB – Beau Brungard, Junior, Youngstown State
In the 2025 regular season, Brungard rushed for 1,378 yards on 225 carries with 24 touchdowns while completing 254-of-368 passes for 2,917 yards and 23 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He also added a receiving touchdown. In MVFC games, he rushed for 852 yards on 155 carries with 16 touchdowns while completing 180-of-256 passes for 2,1621 yards and 19 TDs. He was named the MVFC's Offensive Player of the Year while earning first-team all-league accolades in each of the past two campaigns. He is one of three players who has been invited to Nashville, Tenn., for the 2025 Walter Payton Award ceremony which will take place on January 3. DE – Joshua Stoneking, Sophomore, Furman
Stoneking posted FCS highs in sacks (14.5), tackles for loss (23.0), and tackle yards for loss (132) for the Paladins this fall. Â In addition to his team leading 79 tackles, he also totaled nine quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and one blocked kick. Stoneking's 14.5 sacks, which tied for the fourth most in Furman history, accounted for 56 percent of the squad's 26 total sacks, and his 23 tackles for loss represented 33.3 percent of the Paladins' tackles for loss this season. The first year for the awards took place in 2013. Counting 2025, a total of 133 different players, from 70 different institutions, representing 17 different conferences/associations, have been honored.
Tune into the Division I FCS Championship game on Monday, Jan. 5 to watch Montana State battle Illinois State at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville, Tennessse. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
