CLEVELAND – The
Division IÂ Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA), in coordination with the 15Â FCS conference offices, have selected
Lindsey Scott Jr., quarterback at the University of the Incarnate Word, and
Zeke Vandenburgh, linebacker at Illinois State University, as the 10th annual 2022 FCS ADA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
QB Lindsey Scott Jr., Graduate Student, University of the Incarnate Word
A consensus first-team FCS All-American, Lindsey Scott Jr. led the Cardinals to a 12-2 season that ended with the best playoff run in school history. The Southland Conference Player of the Year threw for 4,686 yards with 60 passing touchdowns with a 71 percent completion percentage. On the ground, he finished with 11 rushing touchdowns with 712 yards. He is a Stats Perform Walter Payton Award finalist, an award presented to the best offensive player in the FCS.
LB Zeke Vandenburgh, Senior, Illinois State University
The 2022 Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Year and MVFC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Vandenburgh ended the year with 100 tackles in a 10-game stat line that also included 21 tackles-for-loss and an FCS-leading 14 sacks. He finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the FCS in sacks per game and tackles-for-loss per game. He is a Stats Perform Buck Buchanan Award finalist, an award presented to the best defensive player in the FCS.
The full team was announced Dec. 19. The 2022 class includes student-athletes from 11 different institutions, representing seven different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors.
