CEFMA Launches 2019 Award Nomination & Grant Application Processes

CLEVELAND - The Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) is accepting nominations for both of its annual awards as well as applications for the 2019 Diversity and Professional Development Grants.

The deadline for all nominations & applications is MONDAY, MARCH 18, 2019.

Event Manager of the Year
The CEFMA Event Manager of the Year award was established to recognize an athletics administrator that has demonstrated exceptional performance over the past year in terms of ability to provide sound, logistical direction when considering a complete portfolio of intercollegiate events for which the nominee is responsible and/or exceptional orchestration of a major intercollegiate event(s).

Nominees will be evaluated based on a wide range of criteria including, but not limited to, the following: exceptional coordination and execution of event management responsibilities for one or multiple sport seasons; development and implementation of policies and procedures aimed at enhancing the safety, security, and/or enjoyment for student-athletes, staff, and guests; and development/execution of major intercollegiate events.

Nominees will be evaluated based on body of work between January 2018 and February 2019. One (1) award winner will be selected and the nominee MUST have direct responsibilities in collegiate facility and project management.

Please Note: The nominee MUST be a current dues-paying member of CEFMA in order to be considered.

As part of the award, the selected recipient will receive the following:
  • Complimentary registration for the 2019 CEFMA Convention
  • Three (3) nights hotel accommodations at the World Center Marriott Resort (room & tax only)
  • Travel stipend up to $400 (reimbursable)
  • Public recognition at the 2019 CEFMA Convention

Facility Manager of the Year Award presented by Netting Professionals
The CEFMA Facility Manager of the Year award was established to recognize an athletics administrator that has demonstrated exceptional performance over the past year in terms of ability to enhance general facility maintenance and/or project management execution.

Nominees will be evaluated based on a wide range of criteria including, but not limited to, the following: coordination of programs designed to enhance the strategic and operational management of athletic facilities; instituting innovational practices toward enhancing experiences of student-athletes, staff, and guests; and development/execution of projects ranging from enhancement to renovation to major construction.

Nominees will be evaluated based on body of work between January 2018 and February 2019. One (1) award winner will be selected and the nominee MUST have direct responsibilities in collegiate facility and project management.

Diversity Grant
The goal of the CEFMA Diversity Grant is to identify minority administrators who desire to excel in athletics facility and event management. The focus is to increase under-represented minority professionals in this field. The grant seeks individuals who want to advance their athletics administration career, become more familiar with facility/events best practices, and participate in valuable networking opportunities. Two (2) minority administrators will be selected based on their application. Consideration will be given to both ethnicity and gender.

The Grant, which is valued at approximately $1,400, includes the following:
  • Complimentary registration for the 2019 CEFMA Convention
  • Three (3) nights hotel accommodations at the World Center Marriott Resort (room & tax only)
  • Travel stipend up to $400 (reimbursable)
  • 2019-20 CEFMA membership

Professional Development Grant
The purpose of the CEFMA Professional Development Grant is to identify and recognize deserving members of CEFMA who desire to attend the annual Convention in Orlando, Florida. CEFMA seeks worthy candidates who want to advance their collegiate facility/event management career and take advantage of valuable educational and networking opportunities with numerous collegiate administrators. Two (2) grants are available for full-time members of an athletics affiliated organization. One grant will be given to an administrator with less than three (3) years of professional experience; and the other to an administrator with more than three (3) years of professional experience. Internship experience does not count.

The Grant, which is valued at approximately $1,400, includes the following:
  • Complimentary registration for the 2019 CEFMA Convention
  • Three (3) nights hotel accommodations at the World Center Marriott Resort (room & tax only)
  • Travel stipend up to $400 (reimbursable)
  • 2019-20 CEFMA membership
