CLEVELAND - The National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) has announced Kevin Salisbury, NATYCAA Past President and former Community College of Rhode Island director of athletics, as the 2025 recipient of the Association's L. William Miller Award. Â
 Â
The L. William Miller Award is presented annually to a member of NATYCAA who demonstrates excellence in leadership, service, and integrity in an athletics program at a two-year college or organization. The award is named after Miller, one of NATYCAA's Founding Fathers who enjoyed an illustrious career at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, where he coached track and cross country from 1966-73 and was the director of athletics from 1966 through his retirement in 1994. Â
Salisbury has had a distinguished career in athletics, education, and administration. He began at CCRI in 1999 as assistant director of athletics, moving over to associate director of athletics in 2009, and was promoted to director of athletics/student-life in 2017, where he expanded sports programs and student-athlete initiatives. His involvement extended to various committees and leadership roles within the NJCAA and NATYCAA, where he served in multiple capacities, including NJCAA Senior Men's Administrator and NATYCAA President. In 2023, he was named a NACDA Athletics Director of the Year. Â
"I am humbled by this wonderful honor. Thank you to the entire NACDA/NATYCAA family for this incredible honor and for your ongoing support of two-year college athletics," stated Salisbury. "Thanks to all the student-athletes, coaches, and staff that I had the pleasure to work with over the years at the Community College of Rhode Island. I also appreciate the support of my wife Lisa and daughters Kaitlyn, Jessica, and Rachel. And to the memory and legacy of Bill Miller – thank you for setting the standard." Â
After retiring from athletics, Salisbury transitioned to academia in 2023 as an assistant professor of psychology. He has earned distinctions for his teaching and continued coaching at Providence College. His contributions to swimming have been recognized with multiple honors, including induction into the NJCAA Swimming & Diving Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2024. Prior to CCRI, he coached swimming at Clark University, Brown University, and Providence College, as well as ice hockey.Â
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Salisbury holds degrees in psychology and sport psychology, with additional accolades from his time as a student-athlete. His lifelong commitment to sports and education has left a lasting impact across various institutions.Â
