Division I Final Fall ----- Division I Conference Standings
CLEVELAND – Less than 10 points separate the top two institutions in the final Learfield Directors' Cup fall standings for Division I with North Carolina leading the way with 422.50 total points.
North Carolina took home the women's soccer title and earned top 10 finishes in women's field hockey and men's cross country.
Rounding out the top five is Stanford in second with 413.00 points, along with – Penn State (third, 335.00 points), BYU (fourth, 311.50 points) and Virginia (293.50 points).
The Cardinal scored in six total fall sports, tallying top 10 finishes in men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's water polo and women's cross country. The Nittany Lions took home the women's volleyball title, while also scoring in four other fall sports. BYU recorded points in five fall sports, with a pair of national titles in men's and women's cross country. Virginia tallied points in five fall sports, with a pair of top 10 finishes, women's field hockey and men's soccer.
Scoring Structure Update for 2024-25: New this year, an additional countable sport has been added on the Division I side, bringing the total number of countable sports to five (5). On the women's side, soccer joins basketball and volleyball, while the men's side will continue to be baseball and basketball. Overall, 19 total sports are counted for the final standings in June, including the five countable sports, and the next highest 14 (max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender.
CONFERENCE
At the conference level, the ACC leads all Division I conferences with 10 institutions in the top-25.
