Texas Captures Third Learfield Directors' Cup Title

CLEVELAND
– The University of Texas secured its third overall Learfield Directors' Cup back on June 11 and finished 2023-24 with 1377.00 total points after the College World Series.

Texas claimed two national titles – women's volleyball and women's rowing – while also tallying three runner-up finishes (women's swimming and diving, softball and men's tennis). Overall, Texas has scored in 3 of 4 countable sports (baseball not included), along with 15 additional total sports. Overall, one sport was omitted from the final standings, women's cross country.

Stanford finished runner-up with 1,312.75 points and has captured a pair of national championships – men's gymnastics and women's golf. In addition, the Cardinal earned runner-up finishes in women's soccer and women's rowing. Stanford has scored in 2 of 4 countable sports (baseball not included), along with 15 additional sports. The following scores were removed – men's and women's indoor track and field, wrestling, men's golf, women's lacrosse and men's and women's outdoor track and field - due to the maximum additional sports to be counted is 15.

Tennessee is in third with 1217.00 points and tallied 10 top-10 finishes among the 19 total sports that they scored in, including a national championship finish in baseball. Due to scoring in more than the 15 additional sports, one score was omitted in the final total, men's indoor track and field.

Rounding out the top-five is Florida in fourth with 1,189.00 points, including a national title in men's outdoor track and field, and Virginia in fifth with 1,066.25 points, including a national championship in women's swimming and diving.

CONFERENCE
At the conference level, the SEC leads all Division I conferences with seven institutions in the top-25 – Tennessee (3rd), Florida (4th),Texas A&M (6th), Alabama (8th), LSU (13th), Georgia (16th), and Arkansas (18th).

NEXT UP
The 2024-25 Division I Learfield Directors' Cup standings will begin after the fall sports season is complete.

SCORING REMINDER
Overall, 19 sports are counted in the final DI standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (15 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
