FCS ADA Announces 2023 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year

CLEVELAND – The Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA), in coordination with the 13 FCS conference offices, have selected Terrell Allen, defensive lineman at Tennessee State University, and Mark Gronowski, quarterback at South Dakota State University, as the 11th annual 2023 FCS ADA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.

DL – Terrell Allen, Graduate Student, Tennessee State
Named the 2023 Big South-OVC Defensive Player of the Year, had one of the best individual seasons by a Tiger defensive lineman, tallying 65 tackles and leading the FCS in both sacks (14.5) and tackles for loss (28), which also set a Tennessee State single-season record. Allen is one of three finalists for the Buchanan Award, honoring the national defensive player of the year in FCS. For more information on Allen's historical honors and awards, click here.

QB – Mark Gronowski, Junior, South Dakota Sate
Named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year, he finished the regular season leading FCS in passing efficiency (184.08), completed 68.5 percent (159-of-232) of his passes for 2,359 yards and 23 touchdowns against only three interceptions. Gronowski is one of three finalists for the Walter Payton Award, honoring the top offensive player of the year in FCS. For more information on Gronowski's bio, click here.

Tune into the Division I FCS Championship game on Sunday, Jan. 7 to watch Montana battle South Dakota State at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. ET on ABC.
