CLEVELAND - The National Alliance of Two Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) is proud to announce Aaliyah Moore from Monroe College and Chase Graham from College of DuPage as the 2022 NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients sponsored by Relation Insurance Services.
"After reviewing 41 outstanding student-athlete nominations, the NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete committee is proud to announce its 2022 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award winners," stated Colin Preston, current NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete committee chair and Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics at Cypress College. "Every year the committee has the difficult task to only select two student-athletes, because everyone of the nominees are the best-of-the-best. Aaliyah and Chase not only performed at the highest level in the classroom and on the field of play, but also went above and beyond for their campus and community. They both have elevated the standard of the Scholar-Athlete award and on behalf of the committee, we would like to congratulate Aaliyah and Chase!"
Chase Graham, maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while earning his Associates in Arts Degree with High Honors from College of DuPage. During the 2021 season, he was named first team NJCAA All-American while leading his team to claim the NJCAA D3 National Championship. Graham appeared in all 11 games and led the team in tackles and added two sacks, two INT's and one fumble recovery. However, what stood out about Graham being a selflessness teammate, was the fact that he was the only starter who played on all special teams. Outside the football field, Chase was an active member of Phi Thea Kappa, the Honor Society for two-year colleges. Graham has transferred to Western Illinois University where he is continuing his athletic career.
Aaliyah Moore, currently holds a flawless 4.0 GPA while studying Business Administration at Monroe College. Her accolades on the track and cross-country course have been as equally impressive as her perfect GPA. During the 2021 outdoor track & field season, she was named an NJCAA All-American with her 5th place finish in the 800-meter run. On the cross-country course this past fall, she finished in 3rd place at the NJCAA Division I Championships, while also winning five straight meets during the 2021 season. She achieved her ultimate goal during the 2022 Indoor season by taking home the 1000-meter national title as well as taking part on her distance medley relay national championship team. She is currently competing in outdoor track and field where she has another opportunity to become an individual national champion. As an international student-athlete, she has had to navigate the difficulties of the pandemic, which makes it even far more impressive that she has achieved perfection in the classroom and in competition.
Both individuals will be recognized at the upcoming NATYCAA Convention, June 26-29 at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
