NATYCAA Announces the 2022 Scholar-Athlete Team

CLEVELAND — The National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) has announced its 3rd annual Scholar-Athlete Team for 2022.

After receiving a record number of nominations for the 2022 Scholar-Athlete of the Year, NATYCAA's Scholar-Athlete Committee named 11 student-athletes to the Scholar-Athlete Team, which consists of 10 different sports and six different districts throughout the country. The district winners not only comprise the Scholar-Athlete Team but are finalists for NATYCAA's Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award sponsored by Relation Insurance Solutions, which will be announced later this month.  Both winners will be provided travel and a $1,000 scholarship as they are formally recognized at the NATYCAA Convention, June 26-28 at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV. In addition, 28 student-athletes are being recognized as Honorable Mention selections across 12 different sports.

"It is of the utmost pleasure of the NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete Committee to evaluate and choose among the best student-athletes in the country to be honored as the 2022 NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete Team," said Cypress College Dean of Kinesiology and Athletics Colin Preston, who also chairs the NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete Committee. "Each year, the committee receives exceptional nominations, which makes the task of selecting the team that much more difficult.  All of the individuals excel at the highest rate on the field of play and in the classroom and we couldn't be happier with this year's team. We are honored to award the Scholar-Athlete Team and Honorable Mentions and we look forward to the announcement of our two Scholar-Athletes of the Year."

To be eligible for the award, nominees must meet the following criteria: minimum 3.6 GPA on a 4.0 scale with a minimum of 36 semester hours or 45 quarter hours with a minimum of 24 semester/36 quarter hours at the nominating institution; participation in a minimum of one complete season of varsity competition at the nominating institution; outstanding athletics success; and outstanding qualities of leadership and citizenship.
