But with different or no policies in effect, how can colleges and universities compete in recruiting and generating new revenue sources? What does this new NIL landscape mean for athletics departments? And what does this mean for student-athletes? This webinar focuses on the opportunities and risks for colleges and universities in permitting student-athletes to sell or license their name, image and likeness. Now with limited to no fans in arenas, we have shifted focus from fan engagement to creating a home field advantage for student-athletes to thrive. This session focuses on how to create a favorable environment through crowd noise and audio selection. The presenters show specific audio and sound clips, their software and videos of how they operate without fans. It was organized by NACMA's Young Professionals Committee and featured DJ Shawna from the Milwaukee Bucks, PJ Mullen from Penn State University and moderator Torrey Ball from Marquette University.

Athletics director Earl Edwards is leading the charge at UC San Diego by implementing programs and initiatives that work towards combating systemic racism on campus and throughout the Big West Conference. His son, six-year MLS pro Earl Edwards, Jr., is a founding member of the newly formed Black Players for Change organization that aims to eradicate racism within MLS and its local communities. Together, and individually, they have taken a stand for the cause through collegiate and professional sports in each of their respective positions.

N4A Emotional Intelligence 3.0: Navigating EQ in Today's Climate Click here As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have experienced transitions to virtual programming this year. While research suggests that student-athletes have a lower willingness to intervene as a bystander to sexual assault than non-athletes, specific barriers to student-athlete bystander intentions have not been explored. This research examines how gender role conflict (GRC) may relate to student-athlete's role as prosocial bystanders to post-sexual assault. Results from an anonymous web-based survey with 300 NCAA student-athletes highlight GRC as a potential barrier to respond to post-sexual assault as a bystander, particularly for Hispanic student-athletes and females who experience conflicts between work and leisure-family relations. Findings underscore the importance of engaging student-athletes in bystander intervention training to prevent campus sexual assault.

Although the transition to virtual learning was swift and abrupt, student-athlete academic professionals continue to approach online learning with enthusiasm and the determination to help student-athletes succeed. Despite not being in-person, there are still many ways that to support students. As we rely on our previous face-to-face expertise to implement productive learning and enhancement, we have encountered numerous areas where we have had to shift our strategies and resources. Following this presentation, The University of Texas and University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) discussed how they create the best gameday experience on their campuses. Experts from Facebook, Skull Sparks and NACMA Sponsor Old Hat Creative provided thoughts on branding and how to increase your athletics vision. Panels were rounded out with a session on how to get noticed and portray your personal brand with the University of Nebraska, Penn State University and the SEC. Coming back to NACMA for the second-straight year, Kevin Carroll, best selling author of The Red Rubber Ball, energized attendees and encouraged the membership to use their voice to make an impact. Dynamic Pricing Partners sponsored the second session featuring Oregon State University and Texas A&M University, as they spoke about the changing nature of the "season ticket." Nike and the University of Washington discussed marketing and branding across all generations.  NACDA Breaking New Ground: Hiring Process in the Digital Age  Click here The coronavirus pandemic has altered the way collegiate athletics departments operate, and that includes the hiring process. Two recent Division I searches were completed digitally, entirely via Zoom, starting with the first round of interviews and even replacing finalist meetings on-site. In this session, Jeff Schemmel (College Sports Solutions), Dan Walters (Buffkin / Baker), Jane Conoley (California State University, Long Beach) and John Hartwell (Utah State University) discuss the successful digital searches they were involved in and how this process can be adapted to other institutions in the future.

In this session, Dan Cohen of Nelson Mullins and NACDA Hall of Famer Cheryl Levick discuss important topics such as: Possible sport eliminations and staff reductions – avoiding crucial legal risks; Cost containment measures such as decreasing travel expenses and support services – beware of Title IX equitable treatment issues; Implementing spring sport scholarship changes – no fundraising cure, but creative solutions may help you legally.
