CLEVELAND – The Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) has selected Dr. Angel Mason, director of athletics at Berry College, to begin the first year of her two-year term as MOAA President. Mason will have now served as President for two NACDA Affiliate Associations, previously serving as President for the National Association of Division III Athletics Administrators (NADIIIAA) during the 2023-24 membership year.

"I am honored and humbled to serve as President of MOAA and incredibly excited about what we will accomplish together over the next two years," said Mason. "MOAA's strength has always been its people. Our members, committee members, leaders, partners, and sponsors are united by a shared commitment to creating opportunities and fostering excellence throughout intercollegiate athletics. I am fortunate to serve alongside an outstanding Board of Directors, and together we are committed to elevating the member experience, investing in leadership development, and ensuring that MOAA remains a powerful voice and resource for our profession. The future is bright, and I look forward to working with our members to continue building a community where all leaders can thrive, grow, and make a lasting impact."

In addition to Mason, serving on the Executive Committee are the following members:

• Vice President – Davon Robb, senior associate AD of competitive excellence at Rice University;
• Executive Committee – Reyna Gilbert Lowry, executive associate AD/inclusive excellence and alumni engagement at Virginia Tech;
• Executive Committee – John Ashaolu, assistant vice president for athletics at Lewis University; and
• Executive Committee – Patty Medina, associate AD/student-athlete development and inclusive excellence at American University

In addition, MOAA Executive Director Emeritus Stan Johnson, president of Stan Johnson & Associates, also serves on the Executive Committee in an ex-officio capacity.
 
In February, the MOAA Board of Directors announced the appointments of Dr. Cameron R. Caldwell-Conner, associate athletic director for external operations, Western Illinois University; Toni-Ann S. Derby, senior associate director of athletics, chief of staff, Austin Peay State University; Sherman Forbes, assistant director of athletic compliance, Mesa Community College; and Dr. Fachaitte Kinslow. In addition to the above mentioned individuals, the following Board members will continue to serve the Association: Kevicia Brown, director of athletics, Central State University; Anthony Henderson, director of intercollegiate athletics, Hampton University; Lenny Kaplan, vice president/director of athletics, NJIT; Deborah Rodgers, deputy chief athletic director, Tuskegee University; Sailor Sinclair, director of compliance, UTSA; and Ayanna Tweedy.
