MOAA Names Four New Board Members

Beginning for the 2026-27 Year

CLEVELAND -

The Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) will welcome the following individuals to its Board of Directors following the 2026 Symposium – Dr. Cameron R. Caldwell-Conner (Western Illinois University), Toni-Ann S. Derby (Austin Peay State University), Sherman Forbes (Mesa Community College), and Dr. Fachaitte Kinslow  (Texas A&M University - Texarkana). 

Dr. Cameron R. Caldwell-Conner is a higher education and athletics administrator with extensive experience in external operations, marketing, and fan engagement. Currently serving as Associate Athletic Director for External Operations at Western Illinois University, he leads fundraising strategy, brand development, and revenue generation initiatives. Dr. Caldwell-Conner has a proven record of increasing attendance, enhancing stakeholder engagement, and driving philanthropic growth across collegiate athletics programs. A committed member of the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), he has served on multiple committees, including external relations, fundraising, and Rising Star, championing diversity, leadership development, and equitable access while mentoring the next generation of athletics professionals.

 
Toni-Ann S. Derby joined the Austin Peay State University Athletics Department as its Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Chief of Staff in September 2024. She serves on the Athletic Director's Cabinet, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight. She also represents Athletics on the University Policy Committee on the campus' Staff Senate. In her role, Derby serves as the sport administrator for Indoor Volleyball, Women's Basketball, and Spirit Teams. Derby supports the athletics development team with event logistics and strategic initiatives, oversees the allocation and management of sponsorship trade funds across teams and departments, and manages Under Armour apparel budgets department wide. She also oversees operations for the University's and Athletic Director's suites, ensuring high-level service and engagement for guests and stakeholders. Derby pioneered and manages all operations for the Govs Locker Room athletics store. Since its launch, the store has generated more than $10,000 in profit, enhancing revenue opportunities and brand visibility.
 
Prior to Austin Peay, Derby served as the Director of Championships, Sport Operations and Governance at the West Coast Conference, and Assistant Director of Championships at the Sun Belt Conference.She has also been actively involved with the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), serving on several committees.
 

Sherman Forbes is the Assistant Director of Athletic Compliance and Student Academic Support at Mesa Community College, where he has served for over 15 years. A specialist in two-year college's regulations and student-athlete retention, Sherman manages Mesa Community College athletic compliance and student success programs and oversees the Equity in Athletics Data Report. He holds a Master's in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and has developed innovative digital systems for eligibility and academic tracking. With extensive experience as an academic advisor and instructor, Sherman is dedicated to fostering institutional integrity and ensuring that student-athletes achieve success both in competition and in the classroom. Forbes has also been actively involved with the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), serving on numerous committees. Sherman is the father of three beautiful daughters and a handsome grandson who all live in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Fachaitte Kinslow is an athletics leader and scholar with a Doctor of Education in Sports Management focused on leadership and equity in intercollegiate athletics. Representing the NAIA, she is committed to advancing opportunity, access, and inclusive excellence across all levels of sport. Dr. Kinslow was recognized as a MOAA Rising Star and is a member of the MOAA Learfield Edge Leadership Academy. Her work centers on student-athlete retention, governance, and strengthening pathways for diverse administrators and institutions. She brings a collaborative, solutions-driven approach to board service and is passionate about expanding impact within collegiate athletics.
