Mentoring Institute Part Two 2024

National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics

NACDA Announces Dates for Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute Fall Session

CLEVELAND – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced the fall dates for its enhanced Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute program. Following the traditional programming to be held in conjunction with the 2024 NACDA & Affiliates Convention in Las Vegas (June 12-13), part two of the Mentoring Institute will be held September 29-October 1 on the campus of Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y.

The fall portion of the Mentoring Institute will replace what has been known in recent years as the NACDA & Affiliates Fall Forum. The Fall Forum began in 2017 as a professional development event designed for all NACDA & Affiliates members that traditionally carried a fundraising and facilities theme.

"We are looking forward to welcoming the 2024 cohort of NACDA's Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute to Stony Brook for the inaugural fall portion of the program," said Stony Brook University Director of Athletics Shawn Heilbron. "Having participated on both sides as a senior-level attendee and an AD facilitator, I am walking testimony to the impact the Mentoring Institute has on taking a career in college athletics to the next level. The second session of the Mentoring Institute will allow these individuals to build upon the skills they learn together in Las Vegas and ensure they are ready to advance to the athletics director's chair."

The Senior Administrators Mentoring Institute has been a staple to close out the NACDA & Affiliates Convention for the last 16 years. In January, NACDA announced that the program would be expanding to include a second in-person session in the fall to provide a more comprehensive learning environment and practical experience for its participants.

Participants for the 2024 Mentoring Institute have been selected through an application process as part of the NACDA U Professional Development Grant initiative. NACDA U provides the means for 150 senior-level administrators to attend both the summer and fall Mentoring Institute sessions. While the cohort is currently at capacity, if you are a senior-level administrator and would like to be placed on a waitlist to be considered for a NACDA U professional development grant to participate in the Mentoring Institute, please contact Jason Galaska in the NACDA Office at jgalaska@nacda.com.
