CLEVELANDÂ Â
– The
National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that
Hanna and Haley Cavinder, The Cavinder Twins, will be featured speakers on a panel discussion on name, image and likeness (NIL) at the 59
th Annual NACDA & Affiliates Convention at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. The Association-Wide Featured Session will take place on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 p.m. PT.
Â
The Cavinder Twins will be joined on the panel by their agent,
Jeff Hoffman, partner at
ESM, a sports management firm that specializes in providing branding and marketing consultation services to elite athletes and corporations with interests in the sports industry, to discuss the business aspects of NIL and the student-athlete/agent dynamic. The session will be moderated by
Kristi Dosh, founder of Business of College Sports and facilitator of NACDA's NIL Educational Seminar.Â
Â
"Hanna and Haley Cavinder have written a playbook where one did not previously exist with regard to social media and NIL in college athletics," said NACDA President
Patrick Chun, director of athletics at Washington State University (WSU). "What the Cavinder Twins have accomplished both on and off the basketball court and generating awareness for their personal brands, their teams, and women's sports overall is both impressive and inspiring. We are looking forward to hearing about their experiences as student-athletes firsthand at Convention in June."
Â
The Cavinder Twins are American social media influencers and collegiate basketball stars whose remarkable journey has captured the hearts of fans both on and off the court. Hailing from Gilbert, Ariz., the twins began their basketball careers at Gilbert High School, where they played alongside their elder sister Brandi. During their senior year, Hanna was honored as the Arizona 5A Offensive Player of the Year, showcasing their early prowess on the court.
Â
Transitioning to collegiate basketball, the Cavinder twins made waves at Fresno State, where they quickly became standout players. Hanna's impressive skills earned her recognition as a two-time All-Mountain West (MW) Conference selection and a spot on the MW All-Freshman Team. Meanwhile, Haley garnered attention as an All-MW selection in each of her three seasons at Fresno State, culminating in her being named the MW Player of the Year during her sophomore season. Her junior year saw her setting the NCAA Division I single-season free throw percentage record, further solidifying her place among the nation's top athletes.
Â
Their success at Fresno State laid the foundation for a seamless transition to the University of Miami, where they continued to excel on the court as members of the Miami Hurricanes basketball team. Representing the Hurricanes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), the twins brought their trademark energy and skill to the court, contributing to the team's success and an Elite 8 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Â
Following their time at Miami, Haley announced that she will play one final season at TCU in 2024-25, while Hanna moved to conclude her basketball career and is now focused on social media and brand management efforts.
Â
Off the court, both Hanna and Haley are celebrated for their influential presence on social media platforms. Proclaimed as the Queens of NIL, they were the very first college athletes to sign an NIL deal on July 1, 2021. With millions of followers across platforms like Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, they've established themselves as leading figures in the realm of social media. Their authentic and engaging content resonates with audiences worldwide, inspiring fans with their passion for both basketball and digital media.
Â
Together, Hanna and Haley continue to leave an indelible mark on the worlds of sports and social media, embodying the values of dedication, resilience, and authenticity. As they embark on the next chapter of their journey, their impact is sure to endure, inspiring future generations of athletes and content creators alike.
