CLEVELAND - The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) has announced the University of Maryland (Group 1), College of Charleston (Group 2) and University of North Carolina at Pembroke (Group 3) as its 2023 Marketing Team of the Year Award (MTOY) recipients, presented by PrestoSports.
"NACMA congratulates the entire staff at the University of Maryland, the College of Charleston, and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke for their tremendous work during the 2022-23 year, and it is our honor to recognize their accomplishments as the Marketing Teams of the Year, in Groups 1, 2, and 3, respectively" said Brad Wurthman, incoming NACMA President. "NACMA's Best of Awards program, and consequently the Marketing Team of the Year program, provides an opportunity to recognize the incredible work being performed by institutions of all sizes, creates more equitable benchmarks for schools to find inspiration from, and aligns directly with NACMA's three pillars (Revenue Generation, Brand Management, and Fan Development)."
Through results of recent membership surveys, NACMA leadership decided to adjust the nomination, submission and award process for the MTOY, presented by PrestoSports. The goals of the adjustments were to align the awards categories with today's collegiate marketing landscape, to provide for an easier submission process, to allow for transparency through the judging process and to encourage more submissions by creating a MTOY per group. For the first time in its 12 years, the MTOY was awarded to three institutions, one from each of the awards groups.
The chart of results for the 'Best Of' Awards, presented by Old Hat, can be found HERE. Submissions that earned Gold, Silver and Bronze in
the Revenue Generation, Brand Management and Fan Development categories were given five points, three points and one point, respectively. Submissions that earned Gold, Silver and Bronze in the Best in Class categories were given 15 points, 10 points and five points, respectively. The institutions in Groups I, II and III with the most total points earned were named Marketing Teams of the Year.
All submissions are now posted in the NACMA Community awards section for the membership to view HERE.Â
The Marketing Team of the Year Award was created by NACMA to show the significant impact a marketing team has not only on the athletics department, but the campus and surrounding community.
