ACE Mentoring Spotlight

Why did you apply to ACE? Â
I applied to ACE because I thought it would be a good way to expand my network and learn from people in the positions I plan to get to. Â
What is a valuable lesson you've learned from ACE mentoring program?Â
I learned that there will always be work to be done, but the time I spend with my family should be a high priority just as my work is. Â
When/why did you decide to pursue a career in college athletics? Â
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to work in athletics, whether professional or collegiate. I just so happened to find athletic compliance when I was a junior in college, and I haven't looked back. Â
What is the one thing that has surprised you about working in college athletics? Â
So many things come to mind, but I would have to say the thing that surprises me the most is the amount of extra time everyone willingly puts in to support our student-athletes. Â
What is one thing about your career that motivates you the most? Â
The next step. I am constantly thinking about the next step of my career and the me that I am chasing five years from now. I do not think of the future too much, but I have an image of myself that I would like to make it a reality and that's what motivates me. Â
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? Â
In 10 years, I would like to either be running my own office or getting ready to be an AD. Â
Favorite mascot Â
I would have to say Benny the Bull. I am not a Chicago fan, but when I think of mascots, that's who comes to mind. Phillie Phanatic is a close second. Â
Favorite binge-worthy show Â
Oh, there are so many, but Wednesday was the latest show that I binged. It was good, and I loved how they expanded the Addams Family universe. Â
Stranded on an island, you can only have 1 item with you, what is it? Â
I would bring a machete. If I had that, I believe that I would be able to survive. Â
Favorite vacation spot
My favorite vacation place right now would have to be the Bahamas. I have traveled there at least twice a year since I was a kid and it's always relaxing, and I get to see family that live there.Â
