ICLA Unveils New Logo

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA) announced today a new logo and brand guidelines. The unveiling was part of the official start to the 2022 Desert Cactus ICLA Winter Symposium at the Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) in Louisville, Ky., the Association's first in-person event in two years.

The new logo was designed by Torch Creative, a Dallas, Texas based design studio with a heavy focus on branding, logo design and development, illustration and typography design. This is the first time that ICLA has updated its logo since 2008.

Guided by Immediate Past President Nikki Goodenow, director, brand and trademark licensing at West Virginia University, ICLA worked alongside Torch Creative to design and refine the Association's updated logo. "As ICLA turns 20 this year, we felt as a Board it was time to refresh the look of the logo and brand," Goodenow said of the process. "It was important to keep elements that have been part of ICLA since its inception when ACLA and NCLA merged in 2002. We enjoyed working with Torch Creative to build an iconic mark while holding onto the great heritage this organization has built and stands by."

As part of the design process, the Association felt it was important for brand awareness and recognition to maintain the same primary colors of green and black. The mark also includes a modern, updated version of the classic pennant which has been represented by the Association since its inception nearly two decades ago. A clean, bold typeface promotes ICLA as a whole, uniting its diverse membership from college athletics departments, university branding and corporate licensees.

The pennant and the wordmark can also be used independently from one another as ICLA continues to grow and serve as the primary professional development Association for the collegiate licensing community.

"As longtime members of ICLA, we were honored to be entrusted with creating a new logo for an organization that has set the standard for excellence in the field of collegiate licensing," said Michael Thurman, Torch Creative co-founder. "We truly appreciate the efforts of ICLA, which has helped colleges and universities enhance their brands at all levels of competition. The new, classic pennant pays homage to that legacy, while the new, two-toned acronym design is an aesthetic that we hope will represent ICLA for the next 20 years and beyond."

The new ICLA logo is prominently featured on the ICLA website, Member Community, and Twitter pages. To view the complete ICLA branding guidelines, click here.
