NAADD Diversity Working Group Member Spotlight - LaMontrose Love

In an effort to highlight the NAADD Diversity Working Group, the Association will feature one member from the Working Group on a weekly basis over the next several months. Tell us about the last two positions you have held.
My role in the K Fund is multifaceted. In addition to fundraising on, both, capital and annual sides, I also manage our social media platforms and assist with former student-athlete engagement. Aside from fundraising, I am an active member of UK Athletics' Diversity Advocacy Committee where my primary focuses are inclusiveness and education.

When/why did you first become involved in NAADD?
I became involved in NAADD in 2017 as a recipient of the minority scholarship. Being able to participate in FOAD created unique networking opportunities, of which, I was able to foster into great relationships. Ultimately, I have met like-minded people with similar passion & drive within the athletics administration field.

What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishment to date?
Arguably the hardest question for someone who's their own, biggest critic.

Provide the membership a few thoughts on how you hope this Working Group can impact NAADD and our members long term?
I hope this group becomes an honest friend to NAADD's Executive Committee. As with any friendship, honesty will always move both parties forward. With clear goals revolving around DEI efforts, I believe the Working Group will always be here to assist in moving NAADD forward, making sure the good work is never in vain or overlooked.

Tell us something unique/interesting/special about yourself.
I am not your typical coffee snob, but I am a coffee snob. Also, I recently discovered my great-great-great grandfather served in, both, Confederate and Union Armies. One as a slave, the other as a capture freedman.
