CEFMA Ambassador Program

CEFMA MISSION STATEMENT
 
The Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) is committed to providing educational programs, best practices, professional development and networking opportunities to enhance event and facility management.
 
This group will be dedicated to the needs of collegiate event and facility management professionals at all levels, and the challenges that exist within the scope of their facilities.
 
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
 
The Ambassador Program assists in organizational efforts to recruit, engage with, and retain a diverse membership within an assigned by athletic affiliation. Ambassadors serve as members of the Membership Committee and will receive a complimentary registration to the Annual Convention.

Term: Ambassadors are asked to serve a two (2) year term which may be extended upon mutual agreement with the Membership Committee chair and the Ambassador. The term coincides with the membership year - August 1 - July 31. Ambassadors will be selected in the spring preceding the membership year that their term begins.

Membership Committee Calls: Ambassadors are active members of the Membership Committee and will participate on committee calls once per month.

Selection: Ambassadors applications will be reviewed by a 3-person selection group including the Membership Committee Chair, Vice-Chair, the Executive Leadership Team member for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion.

Requirements: Prospective and current ambassadors must be:
  • Active dues paying members of CEFMA.
  • At an institution within the athletic affiliation they represent. Should an ambassador either leave the collegiate facilities and events industry or relocate outside of the athletic affiliation they represent during their term, the membership committee will seek a replacement ambassador for the remainder of the term.
  • Supervisor Approval: It is the responsibility of the Member Ambassador to gain supervisor approval to be involved with the program.
Ambassador Representatives: Ambassadors will be selected to represent each of the following athletic affiliations:
  • NCAA Division I – Football Bowl Subdivision
  • NCAA Division I – Football Championship Subdivision
  • NCAA Division I – Non-Football playing institutions
  • NCAA Division II
  • NCAA Division III
Roles/Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a member of the Membership Committee and participate in monthly committee calls.
  • Recruitment / Retention:
    • Identification and communication with potential new members, member institutions that are not currently CEFMA members, and non-renewed members from the previous year.
    • Contacting prospective CEFMA members by multiple methods including e-mail and phone call.
  • Member Engagement:
    • Maintain a level of engagement with members in effort to support the CEFMA Membership Committee retention goals.
    • Promote opportunities within the organization including:
      • Leadership - Board of Director positions, and mentors
      • Annual awards
      • Grant opportunities
      • Learning throughout the year - webinars, regional conferences, mentoring program, etc.
  • Awards: Assist in the initial evaluation of candidate applicants.
  • Event attendance: Event attendance is not required of an ambassador. Should an ambassador elect to attend events we would request they participate voluntarily to support the organization including:
    • If attending Regional Conference(s): Support the board as needed and serve as an ambassador for the organization at the event.
    • If attending the Annual Convention: Participate in new member orientation and assist with room monitoring (as needed).
