CLEVELAND – The
National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that
Eddie Mitchell has been hired to the position of Vice President.
Â
Mitchell will officially begin his duties on November 9, working primarily in the database, membership and event registration space, as he will eventually replace 31-year NACDA veteran
Brian Horning, who announced plans to retire following the 2027 NACDA & Affiliates Convention in Orlando next June.
Â
A seasoned I.T. professional, Mitchell joins NACDA from Summit Racing Equipment in Tallmadge, Ohio, where he has worked in varying capacities over the last decade, most recently as a search and discovery engineer. At Summit, Mitchell built a large analytics platform spanning customer engagement, search, browse, clicks, and purchases to baseline search health and catch regressions, driving the company's prioritizations and data driven-decision making.
Â
Mitchell's expertise and certifications in data development and analysis, systems integrations, A.I. strategy and consulting will assist NACDA's internal operations as the Association continues to move forward with improving its back-end processes with goals to enhance and streamline its overall membership experience.
Â
"This opportunity is surreal, and I am thrilled to be joining the NACDAÂ Family," said Mitchell. "The team's dedication to the Associations and their members is unparalleled. I look forward to supporting these communities and helping NACDA deliver on its mission. I love building solutions that make people's lives better, and I believe technology is at its best when it's empowering people."
Â
"We are looking forward to welcoming Eddie and his family into the NACDA Family," said NACDA Chief Executive Officer,
Pat Manak. "While
Brian Horning can never truly be replaced, Eddie's background in I.T. and A.I., along with his knowledge of NACDA's structure and history, will allow him to make immediate positive contributions to the development of our members and internal staff as we continue to learn and grow together."
Â
Mitchell previously served as a consultant to NACDA from 2007-13 through The Raymond I.T. Group, working alongside the National Office staff on the systems powering day-to-day operations. During this time, he wrote and executed NACDA's original membership listserv; designed, installed and maintained server and network infrastructure; provided on-site and remote support and worked with various outside vendors on implementations.
