National Association of Athletic Ticket Sales and Operations

NAATSO Member Spotlight - Isabella Chapman

Name: Isabella Chapman
Institution: George Mason University
Title: Graduate Assistant, Ticket Operations
Alma Mater: Niagara University

When and why did you decide to pursue a career in college athletics?
I realized I wanted to build a career in college athletics while earning my undergraduate degree in Sport Management at Niagara University. During my time there, I immersed myself in every opportunity I could find — putting in countless hours across different areas of the athletic department. I quickly fell in love with the fast-paced, team-oriented environment and the unique blend of business and excitement that college sports offer. That passion only grew stronger when I had the opportunity to join the ticket operations team at George Mason. It was the perfect next step — combining my interest in the ticketing side of athletics with my desire to be in college athletics. From that point on, I knew I was right where I belonged.

What advice would you give to someone looking to enter the field of collegiate ticketing?
For anyone considering a career in collegiate ticketing, my biggest advice is to keep an open mind and give yourself a little grace. If it's your first time in ticketing, there's definitely a learning curve — and that's okay! It may take some time to feel fully confident, but if you stay curious, keep working at it, and allow yourself to grow, it'll all start to click. Most importantly, don't forget to enjoy the ride — college athletics is a fun, high-energy environment, and there's a lot to love about being part of it.

What is the most important skill you have developed in your career and how has it helped you get to where you are today?
The most important skill I've developed in my career is the ability to communicate effectively. Strong communication has been instrumental not only in collaborating with colleagues across departments, but also in creating positive, engaging experiences for fans. Whether it's troubleshooting an issue or simply making someone feel welcome. Clear and thoughtful communication makes all the difference.

Who has been the most influential person in your career and what is the best advice they have given you?
The most influential person in my career is my former mentor, Robby Judge, whom I had the pleasure of working with for two seasons at the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Robby taught me the value of consistently showing up — not just for yourself, but for your team. He believed in pushing each other to grow, celebrating wins together, and learning through every challenge. His leadership and example shaped how I approach teamwork and professionalism to this day.

If you could choose one (1) amenity to add to the workplace, what would it be?
If I could add one amenity to the workplace, it would definitely be sleeping pods. Sometimes a quick power nap during lunch is all you need to recharge and come back even more focused and productive. Plus, well-rested employees tend to bring better energy — and who doesn't want that?

What is one major sporting event that is on your bucket list?
One major sporting event on my bucket list is attending the Masters. There's something iconic about the tradition, the atmosphere, and the history of Augusta National. Experiencing it in person would be a dream come true.

What is your favorite binge-worthy show right now?
Right now my favorite binge-worthy show is How I Met Your Mother
