DI-AAA ADA Announces Robert Lineburg as the 2024 Builders' Award Recipient

CLEVELAND - The Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) is proud to announce Radford University Director of Athletics Robert Lineburg as the 2024 Builders' Award honoree.

"I am so honored to receive the DI-AAA Builders' Award, especially when I see the names of the outstanding directors of athletics who have received it in past years," stated Lineburg. "As Division I athletics directors, all of us work to build programs that put our student-athletes in the best position to be successful on and off the courts and fields of play."

"To be recognized for this is truly humbling and I am grateful to NACDA and my colleagues in college athletics for this recognition. In addition, I have been so fortunate to work with wonderful student-athletes, coaches, and administrators during the past 17 years. I am so thankful for their hard work and dedication to Radford Athletics."

Lineburg came to the Radford campus in the fall of 2007 and during that time has overseen impressive levels of success including 23 Big South regular season titles, 24 Big South tournament championships and 25 NCAA Tournament appearances across 16 varsity sports. Radford head coaches have also been named Big South Coach of the Year 26 times.

In addition to athletics achievements, Lineburg oversaw remarkable academic accomplishments with Radford student-athletes pacing the way to record GPAs and multiple Big South academic awards. Since 2007, Radford student-athletes have earned 251 all-academic awards, 28 Big South Scholar-Athletes of the Year, 59 national scholar-athlete recognitions, and 10 Big South Christenberry awards.

Over the last six fiscal years, the Highlander Club, Radford Athletics' fundraising arm, has raised more than $7 million while increasing the donor base to an average of over 1,000 donors per fiscal year.

While at Radford, he and his staff were responsible for developing and executing a 10-year strategic plan for the department, as well as creating an athletics long-term facilities master plan in 2014. On the facility front, Lineburg has helped deliver on improvement across Radford's campus, including:

· Renovations to the Dedmon Center (basketball/volleyball arena)

· Learning Enhancement Center renovation

· Carter Memorial Stadium and Williams Field baseball stadium

· Construction of the Siros Center for baseball and softball indoor hitting and offices

· Renovations to the baseball, men's basketball, and women's basketball locker rooms

· State-of-the-art baseball video board

· New softball stadium

· Transformation of the previous aquatic center into a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center

Prior to becoming Radford's AD, Lineburg spent time in the corporate world after serving as a college basketball coach for 15 years including stints with Emory & Henry College, Virginia Tech, UNC Greensboro and SMU. Lineburg is a Roanoke College graduate and earned his master's degree from Virginia Tech.
