AUGUSTA, GA -- Stanislaus State junior guard John Wade III was named the Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The native of Oakland, Calif., guided the Warriors to a 93-85 win over Cal State Monterey Bay in the regular season finale, scoring 31 points with 11 rebounds.
Wade hit 12-of-15 shots from the field (.800) and 3-of-6 3-pointers, setting career highs in both scoring and rebounding. Four of his 11 rebounds were offensive and he added two steals.
For the season, he averaged 12.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in his 27 games played. Wade started in 19 games and averaged 27.5 minutes per game. He led the Warriors with his 66 assists and 36 steals. He scored 20 or more points in three games, including the 31-point performance against the Otters last week at The Fitz.
