AUGUSTA, GA -- Colorado Mesa University sophomore Olivia Reed has been named the Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. It is the second national weekly award for Reed this season (November 13) as she becomes the first women's player to repeat.
Reed was stellar in two wins for the Mavericks last week, averaging 28 points and 17.5 rebounds per game. The forward from Windsor, Colo., opened with 30 points and 24 rebounds in a double-overtime win at Western Colorado, then had 26 points with 11 boards in a blowout of Westminster. Her 24 rebounds is the most by a Maverick in 24 years and three away from the school record. It is also tied for the most in a single game in NCAA Division II this season. She shot 55 percent from the field in both games combined with 3.0 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.
Reed leads the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) and is ranked fourth in Division II with 11.5 rebounds per game. She is also fifth in the RMAC in scoring, second in field goal percentage and third in blocks.
