AUGUSTA, GA -- Following a history-making week, Francis Marion University's (South Carolina)Â Lauryn Taylor was named the Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by D2CIDA. The senior forward set an NCAA all-divisions record with 44 rebounds in a single game and finished her week averaging 20.5 points and 27.5 rebounds per game. This is her second national player of the week award this season, the first coming on December 21.
Facing off against North Greenville, Taylor grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and 30 defensive rebounds, the most in NCAA history. The previous DII record was 36 set in 1995 while the DI record is 40 and the DIII record is 38. The native of Blythewood, S.C., also set a career-high with 34 points. She added another 11 rebounds in her second game of the week against UNC Pembroke.
Taylor leads Division II with 14.8 rebounds per game. She is also ranked third in Conference Carolinas in scoring with 19.2 points per contest.
