Florida Southern's Arop Named Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by D2CIDA

AUGUSTA, GA -- Florida Southern's Akol Arop was named the Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The graduate student forward from Omaha, Neb., averaged 29 points and 11.5 rebounds in a pair of wins for the Mocs while shooting 68 percent from the field.

Arop opened with a career-high 37 points in a 110-108 double-overtime win against Saint Leo. He added 12 rebounds while shooting 16-for-22 from the field. The 37 points is the second-highest single-game total in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) this season, while his 16 field goals is tied for fourth-most in a game in Division II. He followed that effort with 21 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Lynn. For the week, he added 2.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.

Arop is currently ranked in the SSC top-10 in rebounding, field goal percentage and blocks.

The Division II Player of the Week is selected by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA). A complete list of award winners can be found here.
