AUGUSTA, GA -- Eckerd College (Florida) senior Lauryn Vieira has been named the Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The guard tied the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) single-game scoring record with 43 points in a win over Lynn and averaged 29 points per game in two outings last week.
From Haute-Savoie, France, Vieira hit 16-of-22 shots from the field, 4-of-6 3-point attempts and 7-of-8 free throws in her 43-point barrage. That is the most points scored in a single game in NCAA Division II this season and becomes the third Sunshine State Conference player to reach that mark, the first since 1999. She added eight assists, five steals and five rebounds on the night.
For the week, she averaged 29 points over two games to go with 6.0 assists, 5.5 steals and 5.0 rebounds per game. She is currently ranked second in the SSC in scoring, leads the league in assists and steals and is 13th in rebounding and 12th in field goal percentage.
