AUGUSTA, GA -- Barry University's (Florida) James Montgomery was named the Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. It is the second national award for the senior this season, he received his first honor on December 21. This past week, Montgomery led the Bucs to a pair of Sunshine State Conference (SSC) wins with 22 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.
The East Rockaway, New York forward started the week with a 23-point, 14-rebound performance as Barry defeated Florida Southern, 116-112, in double overtime. At Tampa, Montgomery poured in a game-high 21 points and pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds, leading the Buccaneers to an 84-78 victory. Montgomery totaled 44 points by shooting 44 percent from the field (15-of-34) and 58 percent from the free-throw line (13-of-19).
Montgomery currently leads the SSC and is ranked second nationally in rebounding with 11.8 per game. He is currently fourth in the conference in scoring, seventh in field goal percentage and 11th in blocks.
