Young Harris' Johnson Named D2CIDA Women's Basketball Division II Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, GA -- Young Harris' Mackenzie Johnson was named the Division II women's basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The junior forward from Chattanooga, Tenn., averaged 24.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game in two wins for the Mountain Lions.

She began with 23 points and 19 rebounds in a win over Lander, hitting 9-of-13 from the field and 5-of-6 free throws. She followed that with 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting with 16 rebounds in a road win at Clayton State. She scored 21 of her 26 points in the second half as the Mountain Lions erased a 25-point deficit to come from behind. For the week, she shot 66 percent (19-of-29) from the field and added four assists and two blocked shots.

Johnson is currently ranked fourth in NCAA Division II in rebounding at 13.3 per game. She leads the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) in scoring and rebounding and is second in field goal percentage.
