AUGUSTA, GA -- Caleb Zurliene of McKendree University was named the Division II men's basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The sophomore forward from Aviston, Ill., averaged 29.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a pair of Bearcat wins last week.
Zurliene opened with 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting with nine rebounds in a win over William Jewel. The 26 points was a career-high that lasted all of three days, as he put up 33 points in a win over Truman State, including the game-winning basket with 0.7 seconds left in the 90-88 win. For the week, he shot 77 percent (23-for-30) from the field, and added eight blocks, three steals and an assist.
He earned his first GLVC Player of the Week honor and is ranked in the conference top-10 in field goal percentage, rebounding and leads the league in blocks.
