AUGUSTA, GA -- University of Montevallo graduate student guard Braxton Bertolette has been named the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week by D2CIDA. The native of Fort Collins, Colo., had a record-setting night with 50 points in UM's lone game last week.

Bertolette hit 14-of-25 shots and a pair of 3-pointers along with 20-of-24 free throws for 50 points in a loss to Auburn-Montgomery. He broke school records for most points scored, most free throws made and most free throws attempted. The 50 points is also the sixth-highest single game total in Gulf South Conference (GSC) history.

Bertolette, who was named second-team All-Conference for the season, leads the GSC and is ranked 14th in NCAA Division II in scoring with 20.1 points per game. He is also ranked eighth in the league in field goal percentage.
