AUGUSTA, GA -- Taelon Peter of Arkansas Tech University (ATU)Â has been named the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The junior guard from Russellville, Ark., averaged 30.5 points per game in a pair of conference wins for the Wonder Boys.
He began the week by tying his career high with 33 points on 9-for-12 shooting against Arkansas-Monticello. He hit 5-of-7 3-pointers in that game and all 10 of his free throw attempts, adding eight rebounds and an assist. He followed that with 28 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists against Ouachita Baptist. For the week he hit 59 percent (10-of-17) from 3-point range, shot 63 percent from the field and hit 13-of-14 free throws.
Peter is currently ranked third in the Great America Conference (GAC) in scoring and 3-pointers made per game. He is also third in free throw percentage and leads the league in steals.
