AUGUSTA, GA -- Francis Marion University (South Carolina) senior Lauryn Taylor has been named the Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. Taylor was a force in three games last week, averaging 20.7 points and 17 rebounds per contest while shooting 56 percent from the floor.
The forward from Blythewood, S.C., had double-doubles in all three games, starting with 22 points and 19 rebounds in a conference win over Young Harris. She followed that with 20 points and 15 rebounds in a non-conference win over Augusta, then scored 20 points with 17 boards against Converse. She added 4.0 assists per game, shot 82 percent from the free throw line and 44 percent from 3-point range.
Taylor leads Conference Carolinas and is ranked third in NCAA Division II with 11.9 rebounds per game. She is also third in the league in scoring, 10th in field goal percentage, 16th in blocks and 22nd in assists. She is currently 17th on the FMU all-time scoring list with 1,300 career points.
