AUGUSTA, GA -- James Montgomery of Barry University (Florida) has been selected the Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The senior forward led the Buccaneers to a pair of wins last week, averaging 22.5 points and 17 rebounds per game.
From East Rockaway, N.Y., Montgomery shot 57 percent from the floor and 81 percent (21-of-26) from the line at the Century Retail Christmas Classic. He opened with 20 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Clayton State, then had 25 points and 18 rebounds against Findlay. He added 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game.
Montgomery leads the Sunshine State Conference (SSC)Â and is ranked second in NCAA Division II with 11.9 rebounds per game. He is also third in the league in scoring, seventh in field goal percentage and eighth in blocked shots.
