AUGUSTA, GA -- Emmanuel University (Georgia) senior guard K.J. Jones II has been named the Division II men's basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. The native of Atlanta, Ga., led the Lions to a pair of monumental upsets at the Small College Basketball Champions Classic over the weekend, averaging 29 points per game.
He began his week with 28 points on 10-for-15 shooting in a 12-point win over No. 21 Northern State, then scored 30 points against NABC preseason No. 1 and defending national champion Northwest Missouri State in a 3-point win after rallying from 13 down. Named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, he hit 24-of-26 free throws (.923) to go with 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Jones leads Conference Carolinas and is ranked sixth in NCAA Division II in scoring with 26.2 points per game. He is also fifth in the league in free throw percentage with more than double the amount made over any other player.
