Minnesota Duluth's Olson Named D2CIDA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, GA -- University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) graduate student Brooke Olson was named the Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the D2CIDA. Olson averaged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, including 22 points in a win over No. 5 Minnesota State.

The forward from Rice Lake, Wis., began with 18 points and nine rebounds in a dominant win over Concordia-St. Paul. She then hit 9-of-16 shots from the floor with 11 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat Minnesota State 78-75, handing the No. 5 Mavericks only their second loss of the season. For the week, Olson shot 55 percent (16-of-29) from the field and added 2.5 assists and 1.0 blocks per game.

UMD extends its winning streak to nine games in a row and moves up to No. 15 in the latest WBCA poll. Olson leads the NSIC in scoring at 18.5 points per game and is eighth in rebounding, seventh in field goal percentage and fifth in blocks.
