AUGUSTA, GA -- Jaclyn Jarnot of the University of West Florida (UWF) has been named the Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Week by D2CIDA. The graduate student forward led the Argonauts to a pair of big wins last week, averaging an eye-popping 28.5 points and 18.0 rebounds per game.
She opened with 25 points as UWF handed No. 5 Union its first loss of the season, 72-69. She added 16 rebounds, four assists and two steals, hitting 3-of-5 3-pointers. She followed that with 33 points and 20 rebounds in a 7-point win over Christian Brothers. Both of those marks are Gulf South Conference single-game highs for the season, with the 20 boards tied for sixth-most in a single game in NCAA Division II this year. She shot 51 percent from the field and 63 percent (7-of-11) from 3-point range, adding 3.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.
Jarnot currently leads the Gulf South and is ranked second in Division II in rebounding with 13.6 per game. She is also second in the conference in scoring, fifth in field goal percentage and leads the league in blocks.
