AUGUSTA, GA -- East Stroudsburg University's Lakeem McAliley has been named the first D2CIDA Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2022-23 season. The sophomore from Philadelphia, Pa., scored 60 points in the two games of the Bowie State Tip-Off Classic while shooting 75 percent from the floor and averaging 12.5 rebounds per game.

He began with 25 points with 12 boards against CIAA preseason favorite Fayetteville State as the Warriors won 86-81. He followed that with 35 points and 13 rebounds in a win against Bowie State, hitting 12-of-15 shots from the floor, both of his 3-point attempts and 9-of-10 free throws. He added 2.0 steals and 1.5 per game, shot 85 percent from the free throw line and blocked a shot.

McAliley is currently ranked second in the nation in scoring and sixth in rebounding.

The Division II Player of the Week is selected by the Division II Conference Information Directors Association (D2CIDA).
