NACDA Officially Announces New Officers and Executive Committee Members for 2021-22

CLEVELAND – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced that Jamie Pollard, Director of Athletics at Iowa State University (ISU), has been named the Association's President for the 2021-22 membership year.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the next President of NACDA," Pollard said. "It is humbling to join the long list of amazing leaders who have previously served as President of our organization. I look forward to working with Bob Vecchione and the NACDA staff, along with the other members of the Executive Committee, to help lead our profession during one of the most challenging times our industry has ever faced."

Pollard succeeds University of Michigan Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics Warde Manuel, who served as President in 2020-21.

"NACDA is excited to welcome Jamie as President for 2021-22," said NACDA Chief Executive Officer Bob Vecchione. "Jamie's history with NACDA & its Affiliate Associations runs deep, including his time as CABMA President more than 15 years ago. Through the years, dating back to his undergraduate days at Wisconsin-Oshkosh where he was a National Champion long distance runner, he has channeled his competitive drive into an extremely successful athletics administration career, developing into one of the industry's most trusted and respected leaders. As we enter the post-COVID phase in college athletics, the membership knows they are in good hands with Jamie as their incoming President."

Pollard is in his 17th year as the director of athletics at Iowa State and his vision for success and energy continues to have major impacts on campus, in the Big 12, and nationally.

Under Pollard's leadership, the department has invested significantly in facilities, energized the fan base, tripled its operating budget, eliminated its dependence upon state funding, recorded all-time program bests on the field and in the classroom, and bettered attendance marks in its five major sports.

National observers have noticed the resurgence in Ames and Pollard was recognized as Athletics Director of the Year (ADOY) at the 2019 NACDA & Affiliates Convention.

Pollard added another prestigious assignment to his resume in 2019 when he was chosen to serve a five-year term on the NCAA Men's Basketball Committee. Pollard begins his third year of a five-year term this season. He has previously served as chair of the Big 12 Athletics Directors Committee and as President of the Division 1A Athletics Directors Association (now LEAD1).

Prior to his arrival at ISU, he served in various athletics administrative capacities at Wisconsin, Maryland and Saint Louis.

Alongside Pollard, Rick Hart, director of athletics at Southern Methodist University (SMU), will serve as NACDA's 1st Vice President; Kim Record, director of athletics at UNC Greensboro (UNCG), will serve as 2nd Vice President; Pat Chun, director of athletics at Washington State University (WSU) will serve as 3rd Vice President; and Pennie Parker, director of athletics at Rollins College will serve as Secretary.

NACDA Executive Committee members newly selected to serve beginning in 2021-22 include:  Ed McLaughlin, vice president & director of athletics at Virginia Commonwealth University; Colin Preston, dean of kinesiology & athletics at Cypress College; and Kevin Salisbury, director of athletics at Community College of Rhode Island.
