ICLA Announces Shane Hinckley, Denise Lamb as 2019 Hall of Fame Inductees

CLEVELAND - The International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA) is proud to announce Shane Hinckley and Denise Lamb as 2019 Hall of Fame inductees.

Hinckley and Lamb will be formally inducted into the ICLA Hall of Fame at the #ICLA19 Awards Luncheon, Monday, June 10 at the World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida.

Shane Hinckley
"On behalf of the ICLA Board of Directors and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee, I would like to congratulate Shane on this recognition," said current ICLA President Adam Parker, associate director, licensing & trademarks at BYU. "The HOF is the highest honor that ICLA awards to a member, and Shane is more than deserving for his years of service and dedication to the world of collegiate licensing."

6400Hinckley has been a leader, mentor and trailblazer in the collegiate licensing industry for over 20 years. He has directed two successful licensing programs and leveraged his marketing skills to build consumer connections that elevated the schools' brands. Currently serving as the Vice President of Brand Development at Texas A&M University, Hinckley is responsible for the strategic growth of the Texas A&M brand through both marketing and business development enterprises. An ICLA Past President (2010-11), he remains an active member of the Association, sharing his over two decades of insight, experience and knowledge with aspiring collegiate licensing professionals. Hinckley's brand development mindset and willingness to mentor others demonstrates his perpetual commitment to collegiate licensing and the incredible impact he has made to the industry.
  • Hinckley launched A&M's first national reputational campaign and oversaw strategic communication efforts on the historic $4 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign.
  • He has successfully elevated Texas A&M's brand at retail during the University's transition to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in 2012, which resulted in Texas A&M being named the ICLA Synergy Award recipient.
  • At Utah, he directed the Utes Licensing Program and oversaw daily operations of the University on-campus bookstore.
  • He helped develop the first BCS-BUSTER campaign, as Utah became the first non-automatic qualifying school to play in a BCS bowl game in 2005.
    • In addition, Hinckley authored the University of Utah Football Vault, a College Vault book that chronicles the history of the Utah football program from its inception.
 Denise Lamb
"In all sports there is a debate among fans on who the G.O.A.T. is, but in collegiate licensing there is only one 'Goat' and that is Denise Lamb," stated Parker. "I have known Goat for over 15 years and when she was nominated to the ICLA HOF, the selection committee's job wasn't too difficult. Goat has seen the licensing industry from pretty much every angle possible and she epitomizes the saying "been there, done that." I say thank you for all you've done for us all and this Hall of Fame recognition is well deserved."

6401With over three decades of experience, Lamb has undoubtedly changed the landscape of collegiate licensing. Affectionately known as Goat, she is an industry pioneer. Early in her career, Lamb realized that a strong in-store brand presence could significantly impact the selling power of collegiate product. She was a part of developing the first licensed university brand extension program at the University of Montana, Griz Gear, and spearheaded the creation of an industry first, time-limited, vintage-licensing program. The program was not only ground-breaking, but created a phenomenal royalty and public relations impact for the university. A founding board member of ICLA, Lamb has collected numerous awards for her creativity and innovation. Following her tenure at Montana, Lamb joined CLC (Collegiate Licensing Company) in 2003, where her persistence, drive and genuine interest in helping others succeed are second to none. Though her true impact on collegiate licensing is immeasurable, her ability to work across agencies, retailers, licensees, and universities to create solutions is a testament to her 'greatness'.
  • As the Licensing Director at the University of Montana (1995-2003), it was the first institution to adopt a 10% royalty rate and Lamb subsequently led efforts at UM to continue increasing brand valuation for many years afterward.
  • In Lamb's current role, she has been instrumental in the evolution of identifying and connecting licensees and retailers and has helped campuses formulate creative opportunities in bringing them together, such as an annual reception hosted by Fresno State.
  • Today, many of Lamb's innovations have become industry standards for best practices.
  • A major contributor to industry-wide philanthropic program Operation Hat Trick (OHT), Lamb now serves on its Board of Directors.
